How it works

How SponsorSpy finds sponsor mentions in YouTube videos

SponsorSpy reads the transcript of a YouTube video, looks for the brand you care about and returns every mention it finds with a timestamp, the exact quote and the type of mention. Here is what happens between pasting a link and getting results.

From link to results

  1. 1

Add a sponsor and its aliases

Create a sponsor and list the names it might be spoken as: short names, product names, common misspellings. Aliases matter because auto-generated captions often spell brand names differently.

  2. 2

    Paste a YouTube link

Submit the URL of a public YouTube video. You don't connect a channel or grant any access — the link is enough.

  3. 3

    We fetch the transcript

SponsorSpy downloads the video's captions — manual or auto-generated. Videos without available captions can't be analyzed yet, and you get your credits back.

  4. 4

    Our AI does the listening

SponsorSpy goes through the whole video for you and picks out every moment your sponsor comes up — no scrubbing, no skipping, no guesswork.

  5. 5

    Only what was really said

Every mention comes with the exact words from the video, so you see what was said — not a summary or a guess.

  6. 6

    Review timestamped results

You get a list of mentions with the time, the quote and the type. Each timestamp opens the video at that exact moment, so you can check the context yourself.

Three types of mentions

Not every mention is an ad. SponsorSpy labels each one so you can tell a paid integration from a passing remark.

Ad read

The host reads a scripted pitch, usually with an offer, a promo code or a call to action. Example: “Today's episode is sponsored by …”.

Sponsored segment

The brand is part of a recurring segment name or format label, without a full pitch in that sentence. Example: “Let's get to the … Play of the Game”.

Organic mention

An incidental mention outside any ad context: a joke, a comparison, an off-script remark.

What to keep in mind

  • SponsorSpy works from what is said in the video. Logos, on-screen banners and links in the description are not detected.
  • Results come from an AI model and may need human review — always check the moments that matter before acting on them.
  • One analysis credit covers up to one hour of video; longer videos use more credits, rounded up per hour. Videos up to 3 hours are supported by default, some plans allow longer.
  • If an analysis fails, the credits are returned automatically.
